Enhanced understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
The goals of CAIR-MN are to:
• Be the leading civil rights advocacy and legal services organization for Muslims in Minnesota, protecting against racial, ethnic, and religious discrimination and injustice.
• Ensure fair, balanced, and accurate portrayal of Islam and Muslims in the Minnesota media.
• Be the primary, trusted resource for education on diversity issues concerning Muslims.
• Mobilize communities and leaders to create systems change.
• Build the organizational infrastructure and human capital to sustain our mission and growth.

The Muslim Youth Leadership Program is a youth-led program open to all high school students. The core mission of MYLP is to provide American Muslim youth with a proactive agenda for positive activism; empower them to guide their communities from the margin to the mainstream; and foster a healthy American Muslim identity that fits comfortably within the pluralistic American society.

Our CAIR-Minnesota volunteers are the best! We rely on volunteer power to assist with the planning and execution of major and smaller fundraising and other events, to help with office projects, and even to help organize the volunteers themselves! We are always on the lookout for people who would like to share their skills with us and are passionate about supporting everyone's civil rights and looking for ways to challenge Islamophobia, bigotry and hatred. Volunteer meetings happen the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 5:30 pm at the offices of CAIR-MN, 2511 East Franklin Avenue in the Seward Neighborhood, Minneapolis.

Funding Needs
Over the past few years, there have been many new Americans who are Muslim moving to rural towns outside the Twin Cities to seek employment in those towns across the state of Minnesota. It has been reported to CAIR-MN that these individuals haven't always received a warm welcome in some of these areas. While we certainly don't believe that the majority of Minnesotans are not accepting of their new Muslim neighbors, there have been anti-Muslim speakers who appear in these communities and preach their messages of hatred and bigotry. These speakers spread Islamophobic rhetoric. In 2018 we are expanding our outreach into Greater Minnesota and have hired coordinators who will be based in the cities of Moorhead, St. Cloud and Rochester. We anticipate some foundation funding to support these positions, but in order for these positions to be sustainable, we will need extra funding for these coordinators beyond what we originally budgeted for in our 2018 annual budget.
